​Overview

Set to open in the fall of 2018, the Center for Modern Learning (CML)—along with the adjacent space for Legacy Peak Elementary — is the first project of an 80-acre master planned school site. The CML features learning spaces for the Academy Online High School, Journey K-8, Home School Academy, as well as Coding, Cybersecurity, and Robotics, plus the Challenger Leaning Center. 

The new building is located at the future intersection of Research Parkway & Wolf Valley Drive.

Project Features

  • Separate entries and parking for the CML, Challenger Learning Center, and Legacy Peak Elementary

  • Outdoor classroom, playing field, and playgrounds 

  • After-hours access to the Legacy Peak gym, learning commons and cafeteria 

  • Separate bus loading area with easy access to the CML

  • Ground breaking on May 30, 2017

  • Transfer of land ownership to Academy District 20

  • Land graded

  • Concrete foundation walls poured

  • Both elevator shafts erected

  • Masonry walls for gym completed

  • Curb, gutter, and asphalt placed for west parking lot 

  • Last beam for the Center for Modern Learning placed on November 29, 2017

  • Solar tubes installed in Legacy Peak and CML

  • Polished concrete floors complete in Legacy Peak and CML

  • Poured asphalt for exterior basketball court

  • Gym LVT floor installed

  • Asphalt completed for entire site

  • All concrete poured for entire site

  • Sprinkler systems installed for entire site

  • Playground equipment installed

  • Temporary Certificate of Occupancy secured on August 8, 2018

  • Nunn Construction turned over control of building to District 20

  • Landscaping completed for entire site

  • Elevator installed

  • Audio/visual systems installed

  • Ribbon cutting ceremony on August 14, 2018
