Overview

Academy District 20 follows the Colorado Department of Education standards for identifying TAG students who are capable of high performance and/or exceptional learning behaviors. This body of evidence may include a variety of assessments including, but not limited to: 

  • Achievement assessments

  • Ability assessments

  • Classroom observation

  • Evidence from state and national performance ratings

  • Parent recommendations

  • TAG Advanced Learning Plans (ALP)

  • Teacher recommendations

All TAG students have an Advanced Learning Plan (ALP) which includes academic and affective goals.  To ensure rigor and engagement, plans and goals are developed using a team approach between the TAG teachers/coordinators, students, families and classroom teachers. ALPs are consistently monitored and modified. 

Elementary School Programming

Talented and Gifted (TAG) provides specific programming that meets the needs of elementary students. Elementary TAG details.

Middle School Programming

Self-advocacy skills development and opportunities geared toward middle school students. Middle School TAG details.

High School Programming

Talented and Gifted (TAG) offers rigorous and accelerated academics along with additional extracurricular activities for high school students. High School TAG details.

Early Access

Children who display exemplary skills beyond their age may qualify for Early Access to kindergarten or first grade. Early Access details.

Teachers Trained for the Talented and Gifted

Talented and Gifted for Military Families

Academy District 20 understands frequent moves can be disruptive to a student’s education. We adhere to the Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Students, which helps ensure disruptions are minimized and gifted students obtain the proper levels of education.
