Be in the Know
Academy District 20 uses a variety of methods to make sure we get the right information to you at the right time:
District and School Websites
Email
Text Messages
Phone
Social Media
Traditional Mail
Our websites and email are the primary communication methods, but you can also opt-in to receive text messages or phone calls. School level communication may come from additional sources such as Infinite Campus or Schoology.
Setting Up Your Communications Options
Ensure your contact information is up to date in Infinite Campus and in the Extended Parent Portal. If you have a new phone number or email address, don't forget update these systems. In the Extended Parent Portal, you can tell us:
How you'd like to receive communication (email / text / phone)
Email addresses or phone numbers where you'd like to be contacted
What kind of communications you'd like to receive
Which family members should receive communication
Check your email often. If you unsubscribe from any email sent by Academy District 20 or our schools, you will be unsubscribing from all of our emails.
To re-enable emails from us, you'll have to visit our Extended Parent Portal and update your settings.
We recommend you simply delete any emails you do not want.
Each email provider (gMail, Outlook, iCloud, Yahoo, etc.) has a different set of instructions for ensuring email goes to the correct folders. If you find our email in your junk or spam folders, please reference your email provider's instructions to add our primary email address, donotreply@asd20.org, to your 'safe' list.
Bookmark the district website and any schools your student(s) attend. Check them regularly for updates.
Websites
Our district and school websites regularly share information in the form of 'announcements' or 'features'. You can find this timely information right on the homepage or on subject specific pages.
Our websites feature a powerful search tool that allows you to look for specific terms in real-time, speeding you on the way to finding what you need.
On all of our websites, you can find district or school level calendars, login information for password protected systems such as Infinite Campus and Schoology, employee directories, and our School Directory tool for comparing schools.
Much of what we communicate will come to you through our 20Alert email system. With this system we make every effort to target only those parents and community members who will find that information useful. Teachers may communicate additional student specific information through the messenger system in Infinite Campus.
Text Messages
Our parents may elect to receive text messages for timely or critical information.
Phone Calls
We will use automated phone calls to inform our families of various events, such as weather delays and closures, unexpected student absences, or other time-sensitive information.
Social Media
We regularly share information and encourage engagement through our various social media channels. The district maintains pages on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and X. Many of our schools also have their own feeds for these outlets. What we share on social media is meant to be interactive and we encourage your feedback, however, not all of our community will be on a given social media platform, and we recommend you monitor our websites and email for timely, critical information.
Emergency Communication
There are various events such as police activity near a school, a threat against a school, or a wild animal on school grounds that we consider emergency in nature. For incidents where time is of the essence or immediate action is required, we will utilize use email, text, phone calls, and website notifications to keep you updated.
