District Supports for Student Wellness

  • School Counselors: Counselors assist students with academic and achievement goals, post-secondary readiness skills, and social emotional wellness needs.  They work in collaboration with all stakeholders to maximize student success. 

  • Family Resource Center: Licensed mental health professionals provide short-term individual or small group therapy on a referral basis from the student’s school. 

  • Parent Academy Sessions: Free monthly workshops are provided for our families to stay informed about timely and relevant issues facing students and education.

  • Health Advisory Committee: Healthy school teams support student wellness, good nutrition, and physical activity as part of the learning environment. 

  • Student Supports page: A variety of supports are available for students in foster care, who are experiencing housing instability or homelessness, or in need of other services.

RULER

RULER is a systematic approach to social and emotional learning developed at the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence.  RULER tools are provided to all of our schools (PreK-12) and are available to families as well.

Sources of Strength

The mission of Sources of Strength is to prevent suicide by increasing “help-seeking” behaviors and promoting connections between peers and caring adults.  Sources of Strength has been implemented at all of our secondary schools.

Suicide Awareness Prevention

Secondary students participate in suicide awareness lessons provided by trained and licensed school personnel based on evidence-based strategies. Families are notified prior to these lessons occurring in your child’s classroom.
