Academy District 20 elementary students who live more than 1.5 miles walking distance from their neighborhood school and secondary students who live more than 1.75 miles from their neighborhood school are eligible for bus service.  This walking distance considers walk paths between the neighborhood school and your address.   

There are limited transportation options for students who: 

Walk or Ride

If your student attends the neighborhood school and you live outside of the walk zone boundary, your student is eligible for bus service.  If you live within the walk zone boundary for your neighborhood school, your student will not qualify for bus service.  Please view your schools walk zone boundary map below to determine if you live within the walk zone. 

Bus Transportation Request

If you live outside of the walk zone for your neighborhood school and would like bus transportation to the neighborhood school, you will need to complete a Bus Transportation Request.

To complete a Bus Transportation Request:

  1. Log in to the Extended Parent Portal using your district provided username/password.

  2. All students in your household will be displayed.  Click the name of the student for whom you wish to request bus transportation.

  3. Along the top of the screen, select the “Bus Transportation” tab.

  4. Click the Bus Transportation Request link located in the Bus Transportation Request section.

  5. Read and acknowledge the Bus Transportation Request agreement.

  6. Answer the questions within the Bus Transportation Request for your student located at the bottom section of the page. 

  7. You will receive an email when your request has been processed.  Please verify the email address that you have on file in Extended Parent Portal is current. 

View Your Student’s Bus Information

School Bus information is available on-line.  Your student's information will be visible August 1st of every year. Parents do not receive postcards or written information in the mail regarding school bus assignments for their students.  All transportation information for current District 20 students is available on-line through the Extended Parent Portal.

To find your student's school bus information:

  1. Log in to the Extended Parent Portal using your district provided username/password and click on "Bus Routing"

  2. All students in your household will be displayed.  Click the name of the student for whom you wish to view bus information.

  3. The main screen for that student is displayed.

  4. Along the top of the screen are multiple tabs.  Select the "Bus Routing tab (upper left).

  5. Bus number, bus stop location and departure/return times will be displayed for your student.

  6. Please be sure that your student is waiting outside at the stop 5 minutes before bus departure time each morning.
