The energy in Academy District 20 (D20) is palpable as more than 26,000 students stepped through the doors of the district’s nearly 40 schools to kick off the 2024-25 school year. After a summer of relaxation, classrooms are buzzing with the sounds of laughter, and the rustling of new school supplies.

To kick-off the first day of school year, Air Academy High School hosted KRDO NEWS13’s “School Buzz on the Road.” Ahead of welcoming freshman for their first day as Kadets, AAHS highlighted upcoming Career Academies, and award-winning athletic and activity teams.

Dan Olson, principal of AAHS told KRDO, “We have opportunities for every kid. If you have a passion, you can find it here at Air Academy High School.”

The two-hour live segment welcomed more than 100 students and dozens of staff members who arrived before dawn to prepare for the show.

At Rampart High School, students were featured on KKTV’s live-coverage ahead of the first day of school. Senior student council members remarked on their last year in high school and were excited to welcome a new class of students.

When the school bell rang, D20 elementary school came to life with students. At Mountain View Elementary School, Superintendent Jinger Haberer welcomed students alongside Principal Corinne Gorsch and Board President Aaron Salt.

At Prairie Hills Elementary School, Superintendent Haberer visited classrooms, and remarked, “I had the pleasure of observing Mrs. Carli Streifel’s class where one student was energized and excited to show me her journal.”

After concluding her visits, Haberer said, “I am inspired by the dedication and energy I see every day and in each of our schools. We are truly making great things happen in D20, and it’s all because of our committed staff, engaged families, and our friends that support our schools.”
