AAHS Wins Again!
Air Academy Marching Band placed first at the Legacy Marching Festival on September 26th with a score of 77.90. Their show is entitled "An Eye is Upon You." It is a dystopian story of conformity and calamity...of an eye watching every move...but somehow, true love finds a way even if only for a moment.
Students have been working on the music and the drill since June, and all their hard work and dedication paid off on the 26th. Their next competition is scheduled for October 15th at Harrison. Southern Regionals will be held at the D20 Stadium on the 19th, and then the band will travel to Bands of America Super Regionals in St. Louis, MO from the 20th-23rd. They hope to outperform last year's show at St. Louis where they placed 9th overall and won the 2A Division. When they return, they will be preparing for state marching band competition held at the Air Force Academy on October 29th.
Winning is one (glorious) thing, but the goal of the band is to produce students who strive for excellence in all aspects of their lives. Through various leadership workshops offered by topnotch instructors such as Scott Lang and Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser, students are motivated to be the best of the best. It is truly inspiring to watch these young people grow and mature through this program of excellence.
